Acne, enlarged pores, greasy skin, and uneven skin tone can all be treated superficially with a carbon laser peel. They are occasionally known as carbon laser facials.
A carbon laser peel is not a conventional chemical peel, despite the name. Instead, your doctor produces a peeling effect with lasers and a carbon solution.
When is this recommended?
- Signs of premature aging
- Dull complexion, tone, and texture
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Oily skin
- Dark spots
- Mild acne scars
What is the Procedure?
Your provider will recommend that you stop using retinols for around one week before the laser carbon peel. You should also use sunscreen daily during this time.
The laser carbon peel is a multi-part process that takes around 30 minutes from start to finish. For this reason, it is sometimes referred to as a lunchtime peel.
Here’s what you can expect from a typical laser carbon peel:
- Prior to the laser carbon peel, your doctor may advise you to cease using retinoids for around a week. During this period, you should also use sunscreen every day.
- The entire laser carbon peel procedure, which consists of several steps, lasts about 30 minutes. It is called a midday peel for this reason occasionally.
- Your doctor will offer you eye shields to protect your eyes from the laser after the carbon has cured.
- Your doctor will apply a low-energy laser, such as the Nd:YAG, to the skin. The carbon becomes heated and adheres to the epidermis as a result.
- Your doctor might advise omitting the heating stage if you have really sensitive skin or dark spots like melasma. Additionally, the laser heats subdermal tissue, promoting collagen and smoothing out fine wrinkles.
- The laser will be used to smash the liquid carbon into tiny pieces at a greater intensity level.
- The carbon, together with the debris and impurities it carries, will be eliminated by a smoke evaporator linked to the laser.
- Your doctor may also apply a hydrating moisturizer and sunscreen to your skin after treatment.
You should immediately see brighter, glowing skin and tighter pores.
