A cosmetic technique called a thread lift provides a less intrusive option to facelift surgery. By putting medical-grade thread material into your face and then pushing your skin up by tightening the thread, thread lifts claim to tighten your skin. It seeks to lift and sculpt the form of your face or breasts and is also known as a barbed suture lift. With thread lifts, your skin is temporarily “stitched up” with medical-grade suture material to be pulled taut.

When is this recommended?

  • The best candidate for a threading facelift is someone with moderately loose skin who is looking for a short-term pick-me-up.
  • Few adds on to this, noting that the ideal candidate is a man or woman, typically 35 years or older, who hopes to lift the mid or lower third of their face.

What is the Procedure?

The procedure for thread lift may be slightly different depending on the area you’re targeting as well as your provider’s preferences. The basic technique is usually the same.

  • In the room where your procedure is being done, you will be requested to lie down. Your skin will be readied for surgery by being rubbed with alcohol and a topical anaesthetic.
  • The threads will be inserted under your skin using a tiny needle or cannula. It may take 30 to 45 minutes to insert the threads.
  • The method of insertion will be eliminated after the threads have been introduced. Possible under-skin sensations include gentle pressure or tightening.
  • Your operation will be finished and you’ll be free to leave or return to work in a matter of minutes when the needles are removed.
